Hambaobao @ Sam Leong Road

Hambaobao started off as a food stall located at Beauty World food centre and closed down toward the end of 2019. It was opened by Ryan Wee and his wife Clare, and served Asian-inspired Artisanal Burgers at affordable prices.

Good news for those who’ve missed their burgers, as they are now back at their new air-conditioned shop within TRIO building along Sam Leong Road (five to ten minute walk from Farrer Park MRT Station). The overall interior décor is a mix of retro and industrial.

Their burgers menu remains the same as the past with price increases, probably due to new location, but are competitive, if not affordable. Also notable is the additional desserts selection crafted by Ryan’s wife.

I ordered The Classic Beef with a side of Hand-Cut Fries and it did not disappoint. The buns are soft, the beef patty well-seasoned and the fillings generous. Indeed a classic well done!

The other burger I tried was the Crispy Pork Belly. Thick cuts of roast pork belly with hoisin sauce and English mustard drizzled on top. The meat is well marinated without any strong porkiness taste.

Curious to try the new dessert menu, we ordered a DarkAngel_1992_ - an eggless dark chocolate angel cake. I felt it was neither sweet nor dark and confused of what it wanted to be.

The Pineapple upside down was better than the chocolate cake, however felt dry probably since it was dinner time and the cake left out since morning.

Give Hambaobao a warm welcome back after a hiatus, offering the same affordable and flavourful burgers, a definite choice to fix your burger cravings.
