Nesuto Patisserie @ Tras Street
Nesuto is a small café in Tanjong Pagar which offers a range of Japanese-French inspired desserts. The interior is simple and cosy, a good place for drinks or cakes if you happen to be nearby having a meal. This is actually my second visit to Nesuto, the first sometime last year after a meal around the area with a couple of friends.
We started off with the Summer Passion which consists of passionfruit mousse, banana compote with coconut creme on a coconut sablee with bits of coconut meringue on top. A well made light and refreshing cake to wet the palate for the other pieces.
Next up, Chocolat Vanille which is dark chocolate mousse and vanilla with caramelised coca nibs filling, covered in an outer chocolate spray and mirror glaze, resting on a chocolate sablee base with a dark chocolate macaron on top. I loved the dark chocolate and the crunchy coca nibs inside which added texture with each bite.
We also ordered the Tiramisu which had rich flavours from the cocoa and rum. I personally felt it was too wet though.
We finished off with a slice of Earl Chocolate - earl grey tea and rich milk chocolate mousse, prefect for those of us with a sweet tooth.
Nesuto also sells alcohol beverages for the alcoholics in the area requiring a quick fix. Overall, I feel the cakes we had are good and worth visting. My only gripe is due to the layout or sound insulation of the cafe, it can be very noisy to dine-in when the cafe is busy.
